Someone

August 12, 2011

“Someone” was my first radio single — and the first song of mine ever played on commercial radio.

The day it came out, August 12, 2011, I sent it to Jay Smith at CKXS, New 99.1 in Wallaceburg, Ontario. They acknowledged it — and on September 30, 2011, CKXS gave “Someone” its very first radio spin.

It’s a song about love and loss and moving on — about walking away. It’s about two people with two different versions of the path ahead. Sometimes people come in and out of our lives at different moments and for different reasons. Don’t you know that it takes a bigger man to walk away.

Sometimes the lessons of past relationships are the foundations for future relationships.

There are hidden threads throughout my songs. This is one of them — in my song “Jelena,” this “Someone” is waiting at the gate.

Someone — lyrics

Don’t you know that it takes
A bigger man to walk away
And I’m sorry
I never told you
I never thought the day would come
That you and I were really done
And I’m sorry
A little too late
Why didn’t you
Believe in me

Somebody wants you and somebody cares
Someone thinks about you everywhere
That someone
That someone is me
Somebody dreams about you being their wife
Someone holds you with their mind every night
That someone
That someone is me

After all is said and done
I hope you finally meet someone
Who gives you, all that you need
You never thought you’d hear me say
It’s really over then walk away
Honey, I’m sorry but it’s for real
Why didn’t you
Believe in me

Somebody wants you and somebody cares
Someone thinks about you everywhere
That someone
That someone is me
Somebody dreams about you being their wife
Someone holds you with their mind every night
That someone
That someone is me
